4-Stance Glossary
Essential terms to understand your body type and biomechanics.
4-Stance Theory
A biomechanical theory developed by Soichi Hiroto that categorizes human movement into four distinct types (A1, A2, B1, B2) based on the center of gravity and weight distribution.
Type A1 (Cross-Type)
Weight on toes/balls of feet + Inner stance. Movement axis is diagonal (Cross). Strong rotation.
Type A2 (Parallel-Type)
Weight on toes/balls of feet + Outer stance. Movement axis is parallel (vertical). Linear movement.
Type B1 (Parallel-Type)
Weight on heels + Inner stance. Movement axis is parallel (vertical). Linear movement.
Type B2 (Cross-Type)
Weight on heels + Outer stance. Movement axis is diagonal (Cross). Strong rotation.
RSSI (Reaktivkraft)
Reactive Strength Index. A measure of elastic strength and explosiveness in the golf swing.
5-Point Theory
The concept that 5 key points (Neck, Shoulder, Elbow, Hip, Knee) must align correctly for optimal power transfer.
